As we transitioned from “Healthy at Home”, and in line with Kentucky’s “Healthy at Work” guidance, Henderson Water Utility offices will re-opened to the public on Monday, 18 May 2020.

  • To the maximum extent possible, HWU will continue to provide services and conduct business via phone or internet.
  • Paperless/electronic formats will be used where possible for communications, in place of paper.
  • Employees who can perform telework are being encouraged to do so.  Call ahead to make sure the person you need to see is in the office.
  • When visiting HWU offices, the public will be asked to wear masks or face coverings for any interactions while in our offices, and to maintain six-foot (6’) separation from public employees.
  • Hand sanitizer, wipes, and gloves will be available at front desks for use by the public.
  • HWU employees will continue to clean shared touched surfaces, multiple times per day.

We want our employees, visitors and customers to Stay Safe!

Important information for businesses/buildings reopening
As buildings reopen, businesses, schools, and property management teams will be opening areas that have been empty or underused.  Properly flushing plumbing is essential before reoccupying any spaces that have been un-used for the last 6 to 8 weeks.
Flushing water lines and water-using appliances is an easy way to ensure that high water quality is maintained.  Flushing moves older water that has been sitting in the pipes out of the building and brings in fresh water.  Flushing is easy and HWU has made the process easy to understand with the release of the following infographic.

Henderson is a “Combined Sewer System” community.  In the older parts of the city, we have combined sewers that channel both sanitary and stormwater to the wastewater treatment plant when it rains.  In newer parts of the city, we have a separate storm sewer system.
